At 7pm the night began in the wartime-decorated reception room,
with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks plus a wide variety of snacks
served by Whitehawk primary school staff, to the beat of 1940s background music.

Guests on the night included cast and crew,
such as lead actors Brinley Powell (left) and Tom Jacobs (above)...

...supporting actress Jo Mulvey (above left)...

...and associated family and friends, film lecturers and students,
film industry personnel and local business people and dignitaries
including the Deputy Mayor and his wife (above).

Guests were then ushered in small groups to the extensive air raid shelter that still remains in the
school grounds, hidden under a hill, consisting of long, almost never ending tunnels, that used to house
600 students, but now filled with a growing collection of 1940s memorabilia.  The tours were taken
by local historian and author David Rowland and the school's caretaker Dudley Button,
who provided interesting wartime commentaries.

At the end of the tour, the guests found themselves being led up into the upper level of the
school where the school hall had been transformed into a 120-seat cinema.
Every seat had a copy of a souvenir 1940 newspaper to read...

....while waiting for the
remaining guests still on the air raid shelter tour to arrive...

The cinema hall begins to fill...almost to capacity, with 110 in attendance.

Using the school's digital projector and large screen in conjunction with a sophisticated stage setup
(including electric curtains, spot lights, strobe lights etc operated by Oli Mox!) the premiere
was well presented in full surround sound

Local actor and musician David Marx was an entertaining host,
introducing speeches by...

...Whitehawk School Head Teacher Mr.Peter Glue...

...who thanked Dudley Button and David Rowland
for the hard work in organising the air raid shelter tour...

...and finally Director Daniel Parkes introduced the film.

The premiere included screenings of the film teaser, the feature film,
and an in-depth making of documentary (right).

and lighting director Chris Neilan enjoy the show

Afterwards, Deputy Mayor Bob Carden reflected
on his own connections to the film

The night ended with a surprise live performance of the film's original song
"Silver Screen" by Deborah Ram, supported by Itsuka Parkes
on acoustic guitar and Daniel Parkes on keyboards

Guests were able to see first hand a selection of props from the film,
including the large 250kg German bomb (above).
From left: Zoe Warnett, Michaella Warnett,
Tom Warnett and Katie Downey.

The technical genuis behind the audio-visual effects
of the evening, Oliver Moxley, takes a well deserved break.

Director Dan Parkes and MC David Marx discover there really is a bomb in the house...

Director Dan Parkes chats with members of the audience,
as seen through the window of the now destroyed model house.

Mission accomplished.
A tired Dan and David at the end of the evening.

The premiere was also the official launch of the DVD
which is now available to buy-online.

The following day (11 Saturday, 2006)
